“Abandoned” tells the story of the boy’s village in St Athan, South Wales. Built as a recreational place for the children of Welsh coalfields in the 1920s, the village camp was left in disrepair in the 1980s and eventually fell to vandalism. Ahmad’s photographs capture the village’s current state, with fallen roofs and walls, colourful graffiti, and the encroachment of nature, all of which add to its character. Much like the hardback photography book “First Three, No Flash” by Michal Augustini, “Abandoned” is a visual narrative that speaks volumes about its historical significance.
