“Fine Dining 2099” is a captivating photobook by Matthew Kelly, a renowned photographer and party promoter. This book is a compilation of Kelly’s work, documenting his experiences as part of the ‘Fine Dining’ collective’s hedonistic parties across London and beyond during the 00s. It’s a visual feast that captures the essence of an era in London’s ever-evolving nightlife. Kelly’s archival work acts alongside previous candid music documentary (Ewan Spencer, Seana Gavin) as an invaluable document of an era in London’s ever-evolving nightlife. [^1^][^2^]
The book is a testament to the power of high-quality printing. It’s a 280x212mm book, with a 4pp cover printed onto 270gsm Colorplan Ebony with Dapple embossing. We now recommend choosing Colorplan standard rather than an embossed texture if you are planning to print the cover. The surface will then be smoother and easier for the ink to sit on. Textured card looks great but it more akin to wedding stationery and can pick off.
To add further complexity, the cover has 125mm flaps to the front and back with a 12mm overhang, and it’s printed with white ink to the outer. The 132pp text is printed onto 170gsm Gloss, with full colour print throughout. The book is trimmed, collated and perfect bound, resulting in a sleek and elegant finish. The use of G.F.Smith Colorplan paper adds a touch of sophistication, making the book a tactile delight as well as a visual one.
