When it came to bringing “Elephants in Ink” to life, von Glehn turned to Ex Why Zed, a leading name in the UK for illustrated hardback book printing. Known for their commitment to quality and creativity, Ex Why Zed was the perfect match for this project.
The book was printed as a large format 297x297mm Case Bound Book, an impressive choice for illustrated hardback book printing. The cover was printed onto 170gsm Silk with a matt lamination to the outer, providing a sturdy and durable exterior. The cover was then wrapped over a greyboard case, adding a touch of elegance to the overall design.
The book included 2x 4pp Unprinted end papers onto 170gsm Uncoated, providing a stark contrast to the 60 inside pages printed onto 148gsm Mohawk Superfine White. This paper is suitable for this subject matter and the line drawings but generally not advised for photography art books or those where colour reproduction is crucial. The inside pages were trimmed, collated, and case bound, resulting in a high-quality product that is as robust as it is aesthetically pleasing.
An accompanying dust jacket with 123mm flaps tucking inside the front and back cover was also created. This was printed full colour single sided onto 200gsm Silk with a matt lamination to the outer. The dust jacket was then trimmed, creased, and wrapped around the finished books, adding a final touch of sophistication to the project.
