The Plymouth University BA Photography Degree Show is a culmination of three years hard work. This annual event showcases a diverse range of photographic works, each piece a unique exploration of the medium’s potential. The degree show is not just an exhibition, but a celebration of the student’s journey through the world of photography.
The catalogue plays a crucial role in the degree show. It serves as a tangible record of the students’ work, a keepsake that attendees can take home. More than that, it is a professional portfolio for the students, a tool they can use to present their work to potential employers or clients.
The production of the catalogue was entrusted to Ex Why Zed, a printing company known for its expertise in creating high-quality, professional-looking catalogues. The team at Ex Why Zed worked closely with the students and faculty to ensure that the catalogue not only showcased the students’ work in the best light but also reflected the ethos of the BA Photography course at Plymouth University.
The catalogue was printed as A5 books, with a 4pp cover onto 200gsm Uncoated with Matt Lamination to the outer. The text was printed onto 72pp 120gsm Uncoated, with four colours throughout. The catalogue was then trimmed, collated, and square backed wire stitched. This number of pages is the absolute maximum that Ex Why Zed recommends for wire stitching. As you can see on the third image, they don’t lie very flat, so for 40 pages or more, Ex Why Zed advises perfect binding for a professional and slick finished catalogue.
The result was a catalogue that not only showcased the students’ work but also captured the spirit of the degree show. The quality of the print and the attention to detail in the layout and design reflected the high standards of the BA Photography course at Plymouth University.
The catalogue was well-received by the students, faculty, and attendees of the degree show. It served as a fitting tribute to the talent and hard work of the graduating students and a testament to the quality of the BA Photography course at Plymouth University.
Ex Why Zed has a long history of successful collaborations with universities and art colleges for their degree shows.
