If you are looking for something eye-catching, full of colour or a different texture for your next print project then this is the page for you. Yes, YOU!
We have printed a lot of fabulous work that has been enhanced by the client choosing GF Smith paper. The most popular and iconic range is Colorplan Papers.
If you are a student and require samples you can find out more information here.
This is the question we are often asked. The answer is “Yes” and we always recommend people taking a look at the range of papers from the UK’s finest paper mill.
If your client or manager has asked for a brochure that oozes quality, or maybe you’d like a coloured card for a new Zine cover well you’ve come to the right place! The mill GF Smith supply a large range of papers which are Indigo approved and suitable for printing on our digital presses. Digital printing is cost-effective for up to 700 copies. If you are going for a longer print run – 700 copies or more, then our litho presses will be more cost effective and GF offer an even larger selection of litho specific papers.
Great! GF Smith Hull offer their own, fast sample service. Ping them an email with the papers you’re considering and they’ll ship you a set out in the next couple of days. Once you’ve made your choice then email us on hello@exwhyzed.fixed-staging.co.uk for a print quote, easy!
Remember for up to 700 copies digital printing is much cheaper than litho so when you are choosing click the ‘Digital Papers’ tab and then the ‘Digital HP Indigo’ button.
They are big innovators so check back regularly for new advancements in what is available.

It’s a paper made from actual beer! What’s not to like? There is a range of different colours, textures and grains to add a really dynamic look to your publication. The gentle flecking of brewer’s grain creates a unique surface with just a hint of texture. The range is FSC certified and performs well across all the primary print processes.
Titled because of it’s Plastic Like surface. Plastic Like > P Plike > Plike…do you see what they did there?! 🙂 Available in a range of deep and vibrant colours it will give your an exceptionally illustrious and unique appearance and feel.
A little disclaimer
These are really great premium papers which will make your project look stunning. However, they are more expensive than our ‘house’ stocks (sometimes considerably more). So, if you’re working to a tight budget we recommend you stick to our house papers to make your project more viable.
We have been doing this a while now and have seen a lot of impressive publications come off our presses. To give you a head start with your creative printing, here are three print specifications which work well (and photos of them, see right).
One is for an artist catalogue, one is an example of a photography book and the third is a degree show catalogue. Each has its own characteristics which make it eye-catching and very successful visually and as a unique print solution. If any of our showcase options would work for your project, take a note of the spec and jump on our quote form to receive your bespoke quotation. Or ping us an email on hello@exwhyzed.fixed-staging.co.uk if that is easier.

Cover lamination: you are paying a lot of money for the feel and appearance of the GF Smith papers so we recommend NOT laminating them. Better to go for a more simple cover design and let the paper be the impressive part. Rather than have a lot of in coverage which will then need laminating to prevent the ink cracking on the cover folds.
Yes, on most quantities (but short print runs of under 500 copies in particular) it is ALOT more cost efficient to print a grey or colour onto our house white uncoated sheet. This is much cheaper than buying a premium stock and you have the full gamut of CMYK colours to choose from. This video guides gives a good insight: https://youtu.be/CX-lO0b78jw
There are over 50 choices, here is a video showcasing them:
Great, go for Plike! It comes in a number of shades.
